Hearing FAQs

Audiologists are hearing professionals who have undergone additional training and education to treat hearing loss, balance problems, and other hearing disorders. Audiologists hold a doctorate of audiology degree and are able to diagnose and treat hearing loss through the use of hearing aids.

Unfortunately there are no tinnitus cures. However, there are management options that can help alleviate the symptoms of tinnitus. At Beach Cities Hearing Solutions we carry tinnitus masking hearing aids that can reduce your perception of tinnitus.

Clogged ears are often due to impacted earwax. If you have experienced muffled hearing, your ears itching, or a plugged feeling in your ears, then earwax could be the cause. We can safely and effectively remove impacted earwax in office.

Ear infections can worsen the symptoms of vertigo, dizziness, or balance disorders. Because our sense of balance comes from within the inner ear, a disruption – such as an ear infection – can cause balance problems to temporary worsen.

Hearing loss affects everyone differently. For some people, they may only have hearing loss in one ear while other’s experience it in both ears. No matter how hearing loss affects you, it’s important to wear binaural (two) hearing aids. Wearing two aids will ensure you can hear all the sounds around you and that one ear doesn’t worsen.

Symptoms of inner ear problems include:

  • Feelings of dizziness
  • Nausea
  • Hearing loss
  • Feeling unsteady on your feet
  • Ringing in the ears (tinnitus)

Crackling, ringing, buzzing, or any other sound in the ears or head is tinnitus. Tinnitus is very common and is described as hearing a sound when no external sounds are present. Also known as “ringing in the ears,” tinnitus can vary from mildly annoying to debilitating. If you experience symptoms of tinnitus that affect your concentration, contact us for an appointment.

The cost of hearing aid repairs depends largely on the type of repair you need and the type of hearing aid you have. Most repairs are covered under warranty depending on the age of your devices. For more details on the exact cost of a repair, please contact our office directly.
